Federal judiciary workers have written an open letter to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to intervene immediately in the non-implementation of the national minimum wage and the 25%-35% salary review.
Workers are claiming that they have not received any pay increases since January 2024, unlike other federal workers who received a 25-35% raise, and are still earning the minimum wage of ₦30,000, which they claim is unsustainable due to the rising cost of living.
The workers urged President Tinubu to intervene immediately, stating that their families are struggling and they can no longer afford basic necessities.
At the beginning of the year, the Federal Government approved a 25-35% salary increase for federal public service workers across various consolidated salary structures, effective January 1, 2024, to mitigate the impact of rising living costs on workers’ wellbeing.
Second month of the year 2025, federal judiciary workers are still waiting for their promised pay raise, and the situation is further complicated by the federal judiciary’s failure to implement the new national minimum wage and corresponding increases for judicial system employees.
The workers are urging the Federal Government to step in immediately to settle outstanding arrears and implement the minimum wage.
