The Federal High Court sitting in Akure has issued an order restraining the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from proceeding with the party’s scheduled March 3 congress in Ondo State, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
The interim order, granted on Monday, followed an application brought before the court by aggrieved party members challenging the legality and procedural compliance surrounding the planned congress.
In its ruling, the court directed both the APC and INEC to suspend all activities relating to the conduct of the congress pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.
The judge emphasized the need to preserve the subject matter of the litigation and prevent actions that could render the court proceedings nugatory.
The case has been adjourned to a later date for further hearing.
The development has introduced fresh uncertainty into the internal affairs of the APC in Ondo State, as party stakeholders await the court’s final determination on the matter.
