The family of Pa Ayodele Adebanjo, a co-founder of Afenifere and prominent nationalist, has released details of his funeral rites, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
Following his passing on February 14, 2025, at the age of 96, Pa Adebanjo will be buried in his hometown of Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, on May 3, 2025.
The funeral ceremonies will commence with a Day of Tributes and Service of Songs at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos, where dignitaries, associates, and family members will pay tribute to his legacy.
A wake will be held for Pa Ayo Adebanjo on Friday, May 3, at his country home in Isanya Ogbo, Ijebu Ode, followed by his burial and a reception.
The family has requested prayers and support as they prepare for the burial, and has invited guests to attend the events.
Pa Ayo Adebanjo was a respected statesman, pro-democracy activist, and a pillar of progressive politics in Nigeria, leaving behind a legacy of contributions to nation-building, democratic advocacy, and Yoruba socio-political movements.
