Attaihiru Jega, has been appointed Pro-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) by Governor Abdullahi Sule.
Jega, a former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was appointed Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University in 2005.
He is currently a member of the International Elections Advisory Council.
The appointment was disclosed in a statement issued by Mr Aliyu Ubandoma, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) on Thursday in Lafia.
Ubandoma said that the appointment was based on the powers bestowed on Sule as the visitor of the institution.
He said that the governor approved the appointment in furtherance to the commitment of the administration to achieve academic excellence in the university.
In the statement, the governor also approved the members of the governing council of the institution.
Those appointed are; Mr Shuaibu Kore, Mr Thomas Ogiri and Mrs Mary Enwongulu.
According to the SGF, the council member would be inaugurated on a date to be announced later.
