Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, has been freed after being questioned for several hours by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
E-Money was apprehended at his Lagos residence in the Omole area on Monday night and later transported to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.
His arrest was linked to accusations of currency abuse, specifically spraying U.S. dollars at public events, which may breach Nigeria’s Foreign Exchange Act and currency handling regulations.
The EFCC questioned him extensively on the matter before releasing him on Tuesday night.
Following his release, E-Money shared an Instagram video showcasing himself in luxurious surroundings, captioned: “No tension, everywhere good. I see all your love and support. God bless you all.” The video featured a gospel song with grateful lyrics: “Thank you for saving me, thank you, my Lord.”
Cubana Chief Priest, also known as Pascal Okechukwu, took to Instagram to celebrate the news, saying, “My brother has been released, to God be the glory.”
The EFCC’s encounter with E-Money is part of a broader crackdown on naira abuse.
