Popular socialite and nightlife entrepreneur, Pascal Okechukwu widely known as Cubana Chief Priest has announced his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
The celebrity businessman disclosed that he will run on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the decision as strategic and purposeful. According to him, his ambition is driven by a desire to leverage federal power to advocate for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Cubana Chief Priest explained that operating from the opposition weakens one’s capacity to influence critical executive decisions at the national level. He maintained that aligning with the ruling party offers a more practical route to achieving his objectives.
“I cannot help Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from the opposition. I have always been APC,” he said. “My father, Governor Hope Uzodimma, has invested so much in APC for me not to support him as DG of Renewed Hope.”
Addressing questions about his previous support for the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during the 2023 elections, the social media influencer clarified that his involvement at the time was situational and not a departure from his long-standing ties to the APC. He noted that he supported the Obidient movement while serving as a Special Adviser to Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma.
“Last election, as Special Adviser to Governor Hope, I worked for Peter Obi. But this time, I am fully with Asiwaju,” he stated, reaffirming his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Cubana Chief Priest described his 2027 aspiration as a deliberate transition from social media influence to active political participation. He argued that the South-East requires bold, youthful, and influential voices within the corridors of power to effectively negotiate and advance the region’s interests at the federal level.
