A Federal High Court in Abuja has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to release Aisha Achimugu, a prominent businesswoman and socialite, within 24 hours, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
Justice Inyang Ekwo ordered the EFCC to comply immediately on Wednesday and provide an update on the implementation of the order by May 2.
Following a court order, the EFCC presented Achimugu in court, with operatives escorting her to the hearing as scheduled, where she arrived at 11:35 am accompanied by two female EFCC officers.
Justice Ekwo ordered the industrialist, who allegedly fled the country, to appear before the EFCC on Tuesday at 12 noon, and also directed the EFCC to return with Achimugu to court on Wednesday to provide a report.
Achimugu was, however, said to have been arrested by the EFCC’s operatives on her arrival abroad at about 5am and kept in custody.
