Honourable Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has been conferred with an award as the ‘Global face of the Renewed Hope Agenda’ by Nigerians in Canada.
The Minister was honoured for his exemplary leadership style in his capacity as a minister of the federal republic of Nigeria.
The event which was held in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, was used to show recognition to the Honourable Minister for what he has done for Nigerians in diaspora.
In a statement issued Tuesday in Abuja, the President of Concern Nigerians in Canada, Prince Olujimi Adekanle who personally on ground for the presentation of the award, said the decision to honour Tunji-Ojo was a testament to his remarkable leadership.
The statement reads: “While discharging his duties with sincerity of heart, according to the mandate given to him by President Bola Tinubu, he has demonstrated exemplary dedication to the cause of Nigerians both home and abroad.
“This can be seen in the way and manner he moved swiftly to tackle the clearance of an extensive backlog of over 200,000 passports within an astonishingly short period.
“Nigerians do not have to still wait for ages before getting their international passports whether new or renewal. The unnecessary delays that hitherto characterised its production, the situation that saw Nigerians become vulnerable and objects of exploitation by officials of the agency are now near-zero.
“The Interior Ministry under his leadership on March 8 launched the Diaspora e-registration that would henceforth ease passport process for Nigerians in the Diaspora. I can tell anyone for free that to get passports in abroad take just few minutes now.
“Dr. Tunji-Ojo in no time got over 4,500 prison inmates with minor bailable offences free! Many who had been languishing in jail, lost hope awaiting trial for years had their hope renewed and were let go courtesy of his leadership prowess.”
In conclusion, the group President Olujimi Adekanle further urged the youths to strive for self-development and pursuit of excellence in our quest for development and building a great nation.
