BREAKING: Tinubu Appoints Ogunjimi as Accountant General of the Federation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation (AGF). His appointment, approved today, takes effect on March 7, 2025, coinciding with the retirement of the incumbent, Oluwatoyin Madehin.

Ogunjimi, 57, was identified as Madehin’s replacement in December 2024, following a merit-based selection process that involved Directors of Accounts in the Federal Civil Service and consisted of a written examination, an ICT proficiency test, and oral interviews.

In a statement, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, emphasized that the process reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to transparency, excellence, and competence in public service appointments.

Ogunjimi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1990), and a Master’s in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos. He is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

President Tinubu congratulated Ogunjimi on his appointment and urged him to serve with integrity, professionalism, and dedication to the nation.
