On Friday, the residents of Ruga, a community located on Airport Road in Abuja, staged a protest against the demolition of their homes, which was ordered by the Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wik, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
Wike had initiated ‘Operation Sweep,’ a task force aimed at demolishing Ruga and other communities in the capital to eliminate perceived nuisances and criminal activities.
Deji Adeyanju, a prominent lawyer and activist, and Vincent Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, led the protest, urging President Tinubu to intervene and reverse the demolition.
They argued that the demolition would exacerbate security issues in the FCT.
