Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, has stated that Iran is the primary source of global terrorism, highlighting its involvement with extremist groups across the Middle East and Africa, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
During the premiere of the documentary ‘We Will Dance Again’ in Abuja, which commemorated the one-year anniversary of the October 7 attacks, Freeman asserted that Iran’s sponsorship of militant organizations like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis has exacerbated instability in the Middle East.
Additionally, he noted Iran’s increasing presence in Africa, particularly in Nigeria, where it has been accused of supporting terrorist activities.
According to Freeman, lasting peace in the Middle East and parts of Africa is unlikely without significant changes in Iran’s leadership.
He emphasized the need for international action to counter Iran’s role in promoting terrorism and highlighted the shared threat of terrorism between Israel and Nigeria.
Freeman assured that Israel is prepared to assist nations committed to combating terrorism, attributing the root of the ongoing instability to Iran.
“Iran supports and funds groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, fueling unrest across the Middle East. Their strategy involves significant financial investment, technical expertise, and weaponry to destabilize the region.
“Iran’s influence is also extending into Africa, with attempts to disrupt West African stability, including actions in Nigeria.
“The sooner the world addresses Iran’s leadership and initiates change, the sooner global peace can be achieved.
“Terrorism in Israel doesn’t end there.
“We’ve observed radical terrorism here in Nigeria as well, similar to what we face in Israel. Terrorism knows no borders, and nations must collaborate, sharing expertise and resources to combat this common threat.
“Israel stands ready to assist any country committed to defeating terrorism.”
