Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, passed away nearly two days ago in a foreign hospital due to stage three cancer, a condition that was kept private, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
A senior government official revealed that the news of his death was delayed due to the fierce competition among generals for the top military role.
Born on February 28, 1968, in Ilobu, Osun State, Lagbaja was appointed as the 27th Chief of Army Staff by President Bola Tinubu in June 2023. His sudden passing leaves a significant gap in the Nigerian military leadership.
