Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the ruling party National Chairman on Sunday announced his resignation as the leader of the ruling party, SAVANNAH NEWS LEARNT.
Adamu, a former governor of Nasarawa state and two times Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
According to the multiple reports on Sunday night, Adamu resignation is primarily to save himself from being removed from office.
Numerous party faithfuls who believe Adamu didn’t contribute to APC during the 2023 general elections have been calling for his resignation threatening to remove him at the next National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting this week if he failed to resign.
The party’s NEC meeting was to hold July 10 and 11 but was postponed till Tuesday and Wednesday this week due to the president’s international engagements.
Savannah News feelers from the party secretariat in Abuja confirmed that Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu was one of the people who confronted Adamu to resign because he had become a liability to the party.
Although there was no official confirmation of the development as of the time of filling this report that APC national chairman was said to have tendered his resignation at the orders of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
