Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reviewed the outcome of the party’s primary elections nationwide and resolved to meet with the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Netanwe Yilwatda and other key leaders to strategise ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The resolution was announced by the Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF) and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, after a meeting of the forum that ended in the early hours of Tuesday in Abuja.
The Progressives Governors’ Forum is the umbrella body of serving APC governors across the country.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, Uzodimma said the governors reviewed the outcome of the party’s primaries conducted across the federation, as well as the recent governorship election in Ekiti State and several by-elections, expressing satisfaction with the party’s performance.
According to him, the forum also resolved to intensify efforts aimed at addressing challenges within Nigeria’s democratic space while working to improve the welfare of citizens.
“We have resolved to work towards solving the problems and challenges facing our democratic space and ensuring that our people are better off,” Uzodimma said.
He disclosed that the governors would meet with APC National Chairman, Prof. Netanwe Yilwatda, and other leaders of the party to map out strategies for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.
“We also resolved to meet with the leadership of the party to plan the coming 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections. We are ready and good to go,” he added.
Uzodimma further stated that the forum reaffirmed its commitment to supporting and strengthening the APC leadership in preparation for future electoral contests.
The meeting was attended by governors from several APC-controlled states, including Ekiti, Zamfara, Taraba, Lagos, Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna, Gombe, Kebbi, Akwa Ibom and Borno, among others.
