Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has disclosed how security operatives successfully thwarted an alleged plot by a group of youths to bomb the Ondo State Government House in Akure, following credible intelligence reports that exposed the plan before it could be executed, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
The governor made the revelation yesterday during a live interview with Seun Okibaloye of Channels Television. The governor stressed that the timely intervention of security agencies prevented what could have resulted in significant loss of lives and damage to government infrastructure.
According to Aiyedatiwa, intelligence gathered by security operatives indicated that some individuals were allegedly planning to launch an attack on the Government House. Acting swiftly on the information, security agencies intensified surveillance and carried out strategic operations that led to the disruption of the alleged plot.
He commended the vigilance and professionalism of the security agencies, noting that their proactive approach underscored the importance of intelligence-led policing in addressing emerging security threats.
The governor said the incident highlights the need for residents to remain security-conscious and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing useful information capable of preventing criminal activities. He emphasized that security is a collective responsibility and urged citizens not to ignore suspicious movements or activities within their communities.
Aiyedatiwa reassured residents that his administration remains committed to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state. He added that government would continue to strengthen collaboration with security agencies and invest in measures aimed at enhancing public safety.
The governor further warned individuals or groups contemplating actions capable of threatening public peace to desist, stressing that the state government would not tolerate acts of violence, sabotage, or any attempt to destabilize the state.
