The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has passed on after a prolong battle with Leukemia.
Akeredolu reportedly died in Germany on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
He died in Germany not in Lagos as reported by SaharaReporters, Vanguard newspaper and others.
According to SaharaReporters, Akeredolu was being managed by State House doctors up to his death as they could not fly him abroad due to his condition.
“Akeredolu is dead; he died in Lagos,” the source said.
Refuting the claim, Savannah News reliably gathered that the ailing Governor died in Germany not in Lagos.
As of the time of filing this report, Tunji Alapani, the ADC to the governor already on his way to Germany to bring the governor corpse to Nigeria for proper burial.
Akeredolu had returned home after controversy begin trailing his extended medical vacation in Germany.
He returned to his Ibadan residence, a move that led to further political crisis in his state especially with the deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
After President Tinubu’s intervention, Akeredolu then handed over power to his deputy and proceeded on another medical vacation where he finally give up.
