The African Union has suspended Gabon from taking part in any activities organized by the body, SAVANNAH NEWS REPORTS.
This following the military’s coup in carbon on August 30, 2023, which led to the removal of President Ali Bongo.
Ali Bongo is a Gabonese politician who is the third president of Gabon since October 2009 until he was forcefully removed by the military.
He is a member of the Gabonese Democratic Party.
The decision was announced in a statement by the African Union’s Peace and Security Council on Thursday.
Through the body twitter page, it was twitted: “strongly condemns the military takeover of power in the Republic of Gabon which ousted President Ali Bongo on 30 August 2023; Decides to immediately suspend the participation of Gabon in all activities of the AU, its organs and institutions”.
