The African Democratic Congress (ADC) held its 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, swearing in Senator David Mark and Ogbenu Rauf Aregbesola as Interim National Chairman and Secretary, respectively.
Sen. Mark vowed to promote internal democracy, transparency, and the inclusion of youth and women, allocating 35% of leadership positions to women and ensuring active participation of youth under 40. He also announced a 50-member Policy Committee to review and revise the party’s manifesto and drive key sector reforms.
Hon. Ralph Nwosu, the outgoing chairman, commended the party for withstanding pressure and financial incentives aimed at transforming Nigeria into a one-party state. “The ADC rejected dictatorship and stood firm in support of democracy,” he said.
During the meeting, expelled members, excluding 2023 presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu, were reinstated, and a motion was passed to dissolve the former NWC and BoT, allowing new leadership to assume full responsibility until new congresses are held.
The meeting was observed by INEC officials.
