JUST IN: CBN Governor replaces Samuel-Ogbu as AFC Board Chairman.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC).

The appointment was disclosed on Wednesday by AFC President and Chief Executive Officer, Samaila Zubairu, on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) meetings in Bangkok, Thailand.

The corporation is expected to make a formal announcement confirming the appointment in the coming days.

The appointment places the CBN governor at the helm of the board of the pan-African multilateral development finance institution, which focuses on financing infrastructure and industrial development across the continent.

Further details about Cardoso’s appointment are expected to emerge following the corporation’s official announcement.
