Canada-based activist, Olujimi Adekanle, has described the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, as the only rallying point for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign in Ondo State.
Adekanle made the assertion during a meeting with Dr Eminence Oladipupo Okeyomi, popularly known as Carry, a member of the Ondo State APC Reconciliation Committee, in Toronto, Canada, where they discussed political developments in the state.
According to Adekanle, Tunji-Ojo has demonstrated a strong commitment to President Tinubu’s re-election bid through the mobilisation of political stakeholders, support for political groups, and the deployment of resources towards strengthening the President’s political base in Ondo State.
He maintained that the Interior Minister’s political engagements and grassroots mobilisation efforts distinguish him in the ongoing preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
Adekanle also criticised Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, accusing him of sponsoring loyalists who failed to secure victory in the APC primaries to pursue their political ambitions on another platform.
He warned that such alleged actions could deepen divisions within the party and undermine the unity required to mobilise support for President Tinubu’s re-election.
The activist consequently called on President Tinubu to intervene and caution the governor against actions that could further aggravate political divisions within the Ondo State APC.
Adekanle stressed that the President’s re-election bid should be a collective responsibility, urging political leaders in the state to demonstrate their commitment through tangible support, strategic mobilisation, and sustained efforts to maintain party unity.
He reiterated that the success of the 2027 presidential campaign would require political stakeholders to prioritise the President’s ambition above personal interests and internal party disputes.
