Gunmen Abduct Oyo Headmaster, Demand N30 Million Ransom

Suspected kidnappers have abducted a 60-year-old headmaster, Mr. Owoade Matthew Kolawole, in Igboyaye, Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State and are demanding a ransom of N30 million for his release, SavannahNewnow Reports.

Kolawole, who serves as the headmaster of Nomadic Basic School, Igbojaye, was reportedly kidnapped between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

According to members of his family, the abductors contacted them shortly after the incident using the victim’s mobile phones and demanded N30 million before he would be released.

The victim’s son, Mr. Owoade Abiola, disclosed that the Nigeria Police Force, the Amotekun Corps, and local vigilante groups were immediately notified, prompting a coordinated search operation.

Despite an overnight search by the joint security team, Kolawole was not found. However, at about 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, July 12, the search party discovered his abandoned motorcycle in a nearby bush, deepening fears over his safety.

The family has appealed to the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to intensify rescue efforts, secure the victim’s unconditional release, and ensure the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted.
