Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami, has reportedly emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the 2027 governorship election in Gombe State, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
Pantami, who recently withdrew from the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress, was said to have opened discussions with key leaders of the PDP in the state, particularly those aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in a bid to secure the party’s governorship ticket.
Sources within the party disclosed that the request was favourably considered after a series of consultations among influential stakeholders in the state chapter of the PDP.
Pantami was officially announced as the party’s governorship candidate during a political gathering held in Gombe on Tuesday. The event was attended by prominent PDP leaders, including former Governor of Gombe State and serving senator, Ibrahim Dankwambo.
The development is already generating political reactions across the state, especially considering Pantami’s previous association with the APC and his influence within northern political circles.
Political observers believe his emergence may significantly reshape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Gombe State, setting the stage for a fierce contest between the PDP and the ruling APC.
