The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has dismissed as false and malicious a circulating video alleging that it has arrested or commenced prosecution against Justice James Omotosho.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the anti-graft agency described the claims in the video as misleading and entirely unfounded, stressing that no such action had been taken against the Federal High Court judge.
The Commission urged members of the public to disregard the video, noting that it did not originate from the ICPC and was designed to misinform the public.
According to the Commission, at no time did it arrest, detain, or initiate prosecution against Justice Omotosho, adding that the video was a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of both the judge and the anti-corruption agency.
The ICPC further cautioned individuals and media platforms against spreading unverified information capable of misleading the public and undermining public institutions.
It reiterated its commitment to due process, professionalism, and transparency in carrying out its mandate of combating corruption and related offences in Nigeria.
