A faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) loyal to Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has gone ahead with its scheduled party congress in defiance of a restraining order issued by the Federal High Court halting the exercise, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
The congress, which was held across various local government areas of the state, proceeded amid heightened political tension following the court’s directive suspending the process.
The court had reportedly ordered the party and relevant stakeholders to maintain the status quo pending the determination of a suit challenging the legitimacy and conduct of the congress.
Despite the subsisting order, party officials aligned with the governor maintained that the exercise would continue as planned, insisting that due process had been followed.
They argued that the congress was crucial to strengthening the party’s internal structures ahead of future political engagements in the state.
