Nigerian comedian Seyi Law has ignited fresh controversy after asserting that Nigeria is more secure today than it was ten years ago.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, the entertainer reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, arguing that the current administration has recorded notable gains in the fight against insecurity.
Responding to a question from co-host Daddy Freeze on whether the country is safer now compared to a decade ago, Seyi Law answered unequivocally in the affirmative.
He contended that more bandits have been neutralised under the present government than during previous administrations, including the tenure of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
- He also pointed to a perceived decline in large-scale bomb blasts, particularly those associated with the height of the Boko Haram insurgency.
However, activist Zekeri, who featured on the same episode, strongly disagreed. He argued that insecurity remains pervasive, citing ongoing attacks in the Northeast, rising incidents of kidnapping, and the killing of senior military officers.
According to him, many Nigerians increasingly feel compelled to rely on self-help measures amid persistent security concerns.
The discussion later shifted to politics, with Zekeri expressing support for Peter Obi, describing him as a more accountable leader with traceable financial records.
Seyi Law countered by defending the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms, maintaining that although the policies may be difficult in the short term, they are essential for long-term national recovery.
The exchange has since generated intense reactions online, with Nigerians sharply divided over differing assessments of the country’s security situation and economic direction.
