Stakeholders Demand Probe of el-Rufai Over Alleged N423bn Misappropriation

A group operating under the banner of the Coalition of Kaduna Stakeholders Forum has called for a comprehensive investigation into the administration of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai, over the alleged misappropriation of N423 billion.

The coalition, in a statement issued on Monday, urged relevant anti-corruption and investigative agencies to probe financial activities and major projects executed during el-Rufai’s tenure as governor of Kaduna State. According to the group, the alleged funds were either poorly accounted for or expended without commensurate value to the state and its residents.

Spokespersons for the forum claimed that despite significant borrowing and budgetary allocations under the former administration, many communities across the state continue to grapple with inadequate infrastructure and social services. They stressed that a transparent investigation would help restore public confidence and ensure accountability in governance.

“The people of Kaduna deserve clarity on how public funds were managed. An independent probe will either clear the former governor or establish responsibility where wrongdoing is found,” the group said.

The coalition further appealed to the Federal Government, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and other oversight bodies to treat the matter with urgency, noting that accountability is critical to strengthening democratic institutions.
