Segun Shonwumi, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recently inaugurated cabinet as over-bloated.
Shonwumi is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Ogun State, Nigeria. A former gubernatorial aspirant.
He’s also a former spokesman of the 2023 PDP presidential candidate, and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.
In a press engagement in Wadata Plaza, Abuja Tuesday, Shonwumi, said his principal would constitute a prudent, reakful, and more equitable Federal Executive Council (FEC).
He said the members of FEC constituted by President Tinubu are lopsided and over-bloated.
In his statement, Shonwumi, call the ministerial lineup “dismal, elephantine or imprudent is putting it mildly”, asking whether it makes economic sense to have an over-bloated cabinet at a time President Tinubu is asking the people to endure.
He quarried: “Should the government be that large at a time when a lean cabinet seems more needful given the financial state of the country? Can a nation be in dire straits and those who created the financial and governance mess be shoving it in our face as though we have become a captured nation with no way out of the slavery of helplessness.
“The biggest joke is a palliative of rice and wholesale delivery of N5 billion in the direction of state governors, which to my mind is like giving the fish to the cat with the expectation of delivery to the rat; brilliant indeed.”
