The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, has deployed CP Kayode Ojapinwa as the new Commissioner of Police in charge of the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi, Lagos. SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
CP Ojapinwa officially assumed duty on Monday, January 26, 2026, becoming the 33rd Commissioner of Police to head the elite fraud-fighting unit. His appointment follows the retirement of CP Rose Chollom Dung, msp, sp.
Upon resumption, the new PSFU boss inspected a guard of honour and was formally received by the management team, officers, men and women of the Unit, as well as key stakeholders.
CP Kayode Ojapinwa hails from Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Ibadan and was commissioned into the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.
A highly seasoned officer, CP Ojapinwa has undergone several professional and investigative trainings, including the Advanced Detective Course and CPTU, among others. His extensive policing career spans investigation, operations, and administration.
He has served in several strategic capacities, including Unit Commander, Mopol 18 Squadron, Owerri; Divisional Police Officer in Mushin, Alakara Itire, and Trade Fair divisions in Lagos State; Area Commander, Gboko, Benue State; and Commander, 58 Squadron Police Mobile Force, Lafia.
He also served at the national level as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Counter Terrorism Unit at the Force Headquarters, Abuja; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, FCT Command; and most recently, Commissioner of Police, Special Protection Unit at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja.
Addressing officers and personnel of the Unit, CP Ojapinwa charged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and intelligence-led policing in the discharge of their duties. He expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police for the confidence reposed in him and assured that he would serve with diligence, integrity, and fairness.
The Commissioner of Police also called on members of the public and relevant stakeholders to sustain collaboration with the Police in the fight against crime, pledging that the PSFU under his leadership would tackle fraud-related offences with strict professionalism and renewed commitment.
