Canadian Government Dissolves Toronto-Based Church Linked to Chris Okafor

The Government of Canada has officially dissolved Greater Liberation City International Ministry Canada, a church organisation linked to Nigerian controversial cleric Chris Okafor, according to a Certificate of Dissolution issued under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.

The dissolution document, issued by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, shows that the organisation registered under corporation number 1622950-6 was formally dissolved on December 31, 2025, in line with Section 220(2) of the Act.

The development comes amid sustained public criticism and protests by human rights activists and concerned individuals, following a petition reportedly submitted.

The petitioners, who described themselves as vineyard whistle-blowers, accused the ministry of engaging in what they termed fake miracles and misleading religious practices.

Sources familiar with the matter said the protests drew the attention of Canadian authorities, eventually leading to regulatory action against the organisation’s legal status in Canada.

While the government certificate does not state the specific allegations that prompted the dissolution, it confirms that the church no longer exists as a legally recognised not-for-profit entity in the country.

A Toronto-based activist, Prince Olujimi Adekanle, has been one of the vocal critics of the church’s operations in Canada. Adekanle, who resides in Toronto, has repeatedly questioned the activities of the church’s resident pastor, accusing the ministry of deceiving congregants through staged or unverifiable miracles.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official public response from Chris Okafor or representatives of Greater Liberation City International Ministry regarding the dissolution or the allegations raised by critics.
