Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, is reportedly preparing to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Accord Party next week, amid escalating internal crises within the PDP.
The development comes after the party split into two rival factions following a contentious national convention held in Ibadan. The faction loyal to former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, immediately disowned the convention and announced its own leadership structure in protest.
In a related development, Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola on Tuesday clinched the PDP governorship ticket for the 2026 election. Out of the 990 delegates expected for the primary, 957 were accredited at the event, which took place under heavy security at the Adolak Event Centre in Osogbo.
Chairman of the PDP primary committee, Humphery Abba, confirmed that two nomination forms were submitted one each from Governor Adeleke and Adedamola. After collation, and with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in attendance to monitor the process, Abba declared Adedamola the winner.
