An advance security detail assigned to the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, came under fire in the early hours of Tuesday, December 2, 2025, after being ambushed by unidentified gunmen near the Sam Mbakwe Airport in Imo State.
The assault reportedly took place along the Umuowa–Ihite axis, close to the airport gate, as the three-member team carried out an official assignment.
In a statement released shortly after the incident, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Citizen Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, confirmed the attack, noting that while the official vehicle was targeted, Governor Otti’s main convoy was not part of the encounter.
He also emphasized that no casualties were recorded during the attack.
