Police Arrest Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer During Free Nnamdi Kanu Protest in Abuja
Tension erupted in the Federal Capital Territory on Monday as officers of the Nigerian Police reportedly arrested Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, one of the lead counsels to Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
Ejimakor announced his arrest in a brief statement shared on social media, stating that the police picked him up at the commencement of the planned #FreeNnamdiKanu protest in Abuja.
SavannahNewsnow reports, the protest was organized by supporters demanding the immediate release of Kanu, who has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) despite several court orders granting him bail.
As of the time of filing this report, the circumstances surrounding Ejimakor’s arrest remain unclear, and police authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
Ejimakor has been one of the most vocal members of Kanu’s legal team, consistently advocating for the enforcement of his client’s fundamental rights and compliance with court rulings on his detention.
