DSS Warns Public Against Dismissed Officers Using Service Name to Defraud
The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a warning to the general public to be cautious of dismissed or suspended officers who may be impersonating the agency to defraud unsuspecting citizens.
In a statement released on Friday, the DSS advised Nigerians to verify the identity of anyone claiming to be its operative before engaging in any official or personal dealings.
The agency emphasized that some former or dismissed staff have been found using the DSS name and credentials to extort money and perpetrate fraud. It reiterated that such individuals no longer represent the Service and that any suspicious activities should be promptly reported to the nearest DSS command or law enforcement agency.
The DSS further assured the public of its commitment to maintaining professionalism, transparency, and accountability in the discharge of its duties.
