Ondo Police Recover Stolen Toyota Highlander, Nab Two Over Car Theft in Kajola
The Ondo State Police Command has recorded another success in its fight against vehicle theft with the recovery of a stolen Toyota Highlander SUV and the arrest of two prime suspects in Kajola community.
According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, operatives attached to Kajola Division acted swiftly following intelligence reports that led to the recovery of the vehicle and apprehension of the suspects.
The incident occurred on October 4, 2025, at about 6:00 p.m., when the victim, identified as Mr. Olaolu Benson, a resident of Lege, Kajola, was allegedly deceived by two individuals, Oluwajobi Ezekiel and Patrick Francis, who are both known to him within the neighbourhood.
The suspects reportedly approached the victim under the pretext that one of the tyres of his Toyota Highlander Jeep, 2012 model, with registration number KSF 433 JR, was deflated. They then asked for permission to take the vehicle to gauge the tyre. Trusting them, the unsuspecting owner handed over the keys — unaware of their criminal intentions.
Rather than returning as promised, the duo diverted the car, purchased fuel at a nearby filling station, and attempted to drive it to Ondo town with the intention of selling it off.
Their suspicious movement triggered a prompt response from the Kajola Police Division, whose officers swiftly launched a manhunt and successfully intercepted the suspects, recovering the stolen vehicle in the process.
The Ondo State Police Command reiterated its commitment to upholding safety, maintaining law and order, and ensuring that all criminal elements are brought to justice in accordance with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM.
