A routine stop-and-search operation by Federal Highway Patrol officers in Oyo State resulted in the arrest of Alfa Basiru after he was found in possession of suspected human flesh.
On Wednesday, September 17, an incident occurred along the Toll Gate section of the Ibadan expressway, where officers stopped a white bus with registration number XA 551 IRG and found a disturbing item on one of the passengers during a search.
When questioned, the suspect allegedly told the police he had purchased the flesh in Lagos.
The Oyo State Police Command has handed Basiru over to the Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Iyaganku, Ibadan, for further investigation.
Police also disclosed that the flesh has been sent for forensic examination to determine its authenticity and origin.
