Dangote announces date for free fuel distribution
The Dangote Refinery will launch its free fuel distribution scheme on Monday, September 15, 2025, starting with Lagos, South West, Abuja, Kwara, Delta, Rivers, and Edo states.
According to Anthony Chiejina, spokesperson for the Dangote Group, the initiative aims to provide relief to millions of Nigerians by offering fuel at reduced prices, starting Monday in select states including Lagos, Abuja, and others.
Petrol prices have been reduced to N841 per litre in Lagos and the South West, and N851 per litre in Abuja, Edo, Kwara, Rivers, and Delta, to alleviate financial burdens and stimulate economic growth.
More than 1,000 trucks have already arrived at the refinery in support of the programme, with additional states expected to benefit from further truck deployments. Additionally, the refinery is introducing a fleet of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks to enhance logistics and reduce distribution costs.
Dangote remains committed to deploying 10,000 CNG trucks this year, despite the recent surge in CNG prices. However, the company’s free fuel distribution scheme, initially scheduled for August, has been delayed due to logistical issues in China.
