2025: List of few new political parties qualified for registration – INEC

INEC announced Thursday that only 14 out of 171 associations seeking registration as political parties qualified to proceed to the next stage, while 157 were disqualified.

Among those given temporary clearance to proceed were the African Transformation Party (ATP), All Democratic Party (ADA), Advance Nigerians Congress (ANC), Abundance Social Party (ASP), African Alliance Party (AAP), Citizens Democratic Alliance (CDA), and Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA).

Other parties represented include the Grassroots Initiative Party, Green Future Party, Liberation People’s Party, National Democratic Party, National Reform Party, Patriotic Peoples Alliance, and Peoples Freedom Party.

The National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, stated that the Commission will formally notify all associations of its decision within the next 24 hours.

The statement further noted that the eligibility of these associations for registration as political parties would be ultimately confirmed after verifying their claims physically to ensure they comply with the legal framework.

The statement reads, “The Commission held its regular meeting today, Thursday 11th September 2025.
