Canada-based Nigerian politician, journalist, and human rights advocate, Prince Jimmy Adekanle widely known as JAF, has called on the Nigerian Police Force to immediately commence a thorough and transparent investigation into the sudden death of renowned businessman and political figure, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
The late Otunba Akingboye, popularly known as OBA, was a respected leader in Ondo State and a prominent figure within the Ikale community. His death, reportedly occurring at his residence in Lagos, was initially attributed to a brief illness. However, new concerns have emerged that cast doubt on the official narrative.
Olujimi Adekanle, who is the publisher of Savannah News and a vocal advocate for justice and accountability, has raised questions over the circumstances surrounding Akingboye’s demise.
He referenced a disturbing photograph circulating on social media which allegedly shows the late politician with visible blood stains and what appears to be a deep wound on his body.
“The public deserves the truth. The image making rounds raises serious suspicions that contradict reports claiming he died peacefully in his sleep. There must be a comprehensive investigation to determine what really happened,” Adekanle said in a statement.
He further emphasized that due to Otunba Akingboye’s high profile and contributions to society, any ambiguity surrounding his death should be cleared up with urgency, transparency, and professionalism.
“Otunba Akingboye was not just a political figure; he was a pillar in his community and a mentor to many. If there is foul play involved, it must be uncovered, and justice must prevail,” Jaf added.
The call for an investigation has sparked renewed public interest in the case, with supporters, political allies, and members of the Ikale community urging law enforcement agencies not to treat the matter lightly.
Meanwhile, no official statement has yet been released by the Nigerian Police regarding any planned investigation, and the Akingboye family has remained largely silent amid the growing calls for clarity.
