The Palace of the Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom has announced the closure of all markets, stalls, and shops in Akure on Thursday, August 14, 2025, in commemoration of the annual Aheregbe Festival.
The closure is part of the age-long tradition marking the festival, according to a statement from Adeyeye Michael, Chief Press Secretary to the Deji of Akure.
The palace emphasized that no trading or shopping would be allowed under any circumstances throughout the day.
