The Ondo state sector command of the Federal Road Safety Corps restated its commitment to safety on highways across the state over the weekend by arresting motorcyclists who failed to wear crash safety helmets.
Dr Samuel Ibitoye, FRSC state sector commander, warned in Akure, Ondo state capital, over the weekend that motorcyclists riding on highways without crash safety helmets would be arrested, have their motorcycles impounded, and prosecuted.
According to the FRSC boss, motorcycle crashes without crash safety helmets often result in fatal injuries, including broken skulls, limbs and thighs.
He added: “Do not claim any right while on the highway as road users. Please, let the vehicle go and have your own live intact.
He said: “It is good for motorcycle riders to avoid highways completely, but when they find themselves there, they should use the crash safety helmet and not engage in competition with the vehicles, especially heavy vehicles.
