Tension arose at the National Assembly gate in Abuja on Tuesday as security operatives barred suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, from entering the complex.
The embattled lawmaker arrived with a show of force, accompanied by prominent activist Aisha Yesufu, rights advocate Mama P, fellow activist Randy, and a loyal crowd of supporters, but was barred from entering by security personnel.
Aisha Yesufu challenged security officials, seeking clarification on the alleged order to bar Senator Natasha, drawing public attention to the controversy surrounding the senator’s suspension.
“National Assembly is meant to be for everyone. Why are you stopping us?
“We are not abiding doesn’t mean we are cowards,” she said.
The standoff intensified as some supporters started chanting “Push!” and attempted to force their way in. Later, Natasha’s supporters were seen marching toward the complex, singing solidarity songs.
