A pastor from the Redeemed Christian Church of God has allegedly stolen $8,000 from the church and abandoned his wife to marry another woman, according to Pastor Folu Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of the RCCG.
According to a video monitored by Church Times, the unnamed pastor allegedly used funds intended for South African missions to abandon his wife there and marry another woman in the United States.
Adeboye explained that the incident occurred when the pastor’s wife went to Cape Town, South Africa, for a mission and preached at the RCCG parish where he served as pastor.
She recounted being taken aback by the woman’s actions and inquiring about the cost of securing a permanent site for the parish.
According to her, the pastor, who claimed to be from Ekiti State, informed her that they could initiate fundraising for a permanent parish site with $8000.
He informed her that tourism was booming in South Africa and the funds would be used to purchase a used vehicle, which would then be handed over to a tourism agency to generate returns for the church, ultimately allowing them to acquire a permanent site.
Pastor Adeboye was thrilled with the suggestion and promptly handed over the money, but unbeknownst to her, he had ulterior motives.
As soon as he collected the money, he travelled to the US and left his wife in South Africa.
She claimed the pastor traveled to the US to marry another woman and left his wife in South Africa, who is now in a terrible state and almost mentally unstable. RCCG men, what are we going to do?, Pastor Adeboye was quoted as saying by Church Times.
“Are we going to continue with such a lying spirit, a deceitful spirit to the God of the kingdom?
“That is why we have this landmark meeting.
“We must go back to the old path where we look up to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
“We must get to the point where we say wherever He leads, we follow.
“We were in this bush (referring to Redemption City on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway).
“For three years, there was no light.
“We went back to the days of the lantern and we were grinding with stone, whereas where we were coming from we had grinding machines, we had washing machines.”
