A joint security operation by the Department of State Services, FCT Police Command, local hunters, and vigilante groups has resulted in the rescue of kidnap victim Rasheed Soyinka, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
The mission covered over 40 kilometers of forested terrain on the outskirts of Abuja.
According to counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, Soyinka was seized at gunpoint from his home in Sabon Lugbe in the early hours of July 3, triggering a multi-agency response around 1:00 a.m.
A combined team of DSS personnel, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and community-based security groups launched a search-and-rescue operation in the hours that followed, scouring areas from Dafara through Gau Forest in Kuje Area Council and extending into the Kabin Mongoro and Kwaita forests within Kwali Area Council—a distance of approximately 40 kilometres.
“Following sustained pressure and professional coordination, the victim was rescued at about 12:05 a.m. on July 4 without any casualties,” said the sources.
Soyinka has been reunited with his family through his elder brother, while the authorities continue to search for the suspects.
