Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa has described the African Democratic Congress coalition as a ‘paperweight’ political gathering that does not pose a threat to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
According to Obasa, who spoke on Wednesday at the Lagos West 1 APC senatorial rally at the Ifako Mini Stadium, the newly formed coalition, which includes figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Nasir el-Rufai, and Rotimi Amaechi, lacks direction and credibility.
He stated that the opposition’s attempt to unseat the APC in 2027 was destined to fail from the outset, comparing the ADC-led alliance to a stillborn child.
His words: “When a woman is conceived, it takes nine months for the womb to grow, and after delivery, you need to nurture the baby to maturity. Whatever they are putting together in ADC is irrelevant.”
Obasa added that the APC remains the only party with nationwide structure and performance credentials, saying the opposition is only “flexing muscles” without a plan.
“The umbrella is torn, and even the ADC is paperweight,” he declared, urging Lagosians to remain loyal to the APC and participate actively in the July 12 local government elections.
Other APC leaders in attendance included Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by his deputy Obafemi Hamzat, former senator Ganiyu Solomon, and Reps member Abiodun Faleke.
