Senator Orji Uzor Kalu revealed that former APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, resigned due to health concerns, not political pressure, and that Kalu had personally witnessed Ganduje’s deteriorating health two weeks prior.
Kalu stated that Ganduje’s decision was voluntary, contrary to speculation that party stakeholders pressured him to step down ahead of the 2027 elections.
He clarified that the former chairman had no issues with President Bola Tinubu and that his departure was driven by personal wellbeing concerns, urging the public to refrain from politicizing the issue.
The APC has appointed Ali Bukar Dalori as Acting National Chairman, with plans for a national convention later in the year to elect a permanent leader, a move that could also promote regional balance within the party’s leadership.
