JUST IN: Police take over PDP secretariat ahead of NEC meeting

Heavily armed police officers took over the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abuja on Monday, heightening tensions and forcing staff and journalists to evacuate the premises.

The sudden security presence, coming just hours before the party’s scheduled National Executive Committee meeting, has fueled speculation that it may be an attempt to prevent the gathering from taking place.

According to Channels TV, some PDP staff were initially allowed into the premises, but were later ordered to leave the building, and journalists covering the event were also forced to exit.

Officers also blocked Dalaba Street, the major access route to the party’s headquarters, creating confusion among party faithful and passersby.

As of press time, neither the police nor the PDP leadership had released an official statement.
