President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is holding a closed-door meeting with top security officials at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, attended by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, along with the Chiefs of Army, Air, and Naval Staff, and the Inspector General of Police.
Although the reason for the meeting has yet to be officially disclosed, it is believed to be connected to the recent surge in insecurity in certain parts of the country.
Security forces in Nigeria have faced renewed attacks from insurgents, particularly in the north, prompting an emergency meeting.
The meeting comes just before President Tinubu’s trip to Rome, where he will attend the inauguration mass of Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican’s invitation.
