Senate President Godswill Akpabio has filed a lawsuit against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan at the Federal High Court in Abuja on May 7, 2025, over a social media post he claims was meant to mock him.
The court filing, registered under suit number CS/384/25, calls for Senator Natasha to remove the contentious post from all her social media pages in response to an apology letter she posted on Facebook as the suspended senator representing Kogi Central.
He also asks for an affidavit to verify her compliance with the demands. Senator Natasha’s April 27 post, written in a sarcastic tone, was shared online.
She addressed Akpabio directly, feigning an apology for having the audacity to maintain her dignity and independence in the face of pressure, and then went on to mock the notion that success in the Senate is contingent upon submission rather than merit.
Akpabio’s lawyers, led by Kehinde Ogunwumiju, claim her Facebook post violated a court order issued on April 4, and that it concluded with a dramatic expression of fake regret for prioritizing integrity over personal favors.
Akpabio’s team alleged that Natasha’s statement violated the court’s order, which had directed both parties to refrain from publicly commenting on the ongoing sexual harassment case.
