Femi Falana Reaches Out to EFCC Concerning VDM’s Arrest

Femi Falana, SAN, a prominent human rights lawyer, has reached out to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding the arrest and ongoing detention of Martins Vincent Otse, a popular social media activist known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.

VDM’s legal counsel, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the development in a social media post on Wednesday morning.

“I have now confirmed, contrary to my previous post the other day, that our revered leader and mentor, Femi Falana SAN, has made several calls to EFCC challenging VDM’s unlawful arrest and detention,” Adeyanju stated in a post.

The revelation marks a significant shift in the high-profile case, which has attracted widespread attention and criticism since VDM’s arrest last Friday in Abuja.

The reasons behind his arrest remain unclear, raising concerns about due process and freedom of expression.

Adeyanju expressed disappointment over Falana’s perceived silence on the matter.

“Our revered leader and mentor, Femi Falana SAN yet to condemn the arrest of VDM. Interesting times indeed!” he wrote in a previous post.

The confirmation of Falana’s involvement is expected to increase pressure on the EFCC to provide clarity on its stance and procedures regarding VDM’s detention, which has sparked widespread controversy and calls for transparency and respect for civil liberties.
