A medical doctor, Alex, was fatally shot at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital in Benin, Edo State, SAVANNAH NEWSNOW REPORTS.
Alex, a physiotherapy department employee at the hospital, was allegedly attacked by armed men, prompting fellow healthcare workers and patients to flee in panic.
UBTH’s Public Relations Officer, Joshua Uwaila, confirmed the fatal incident and stated that hospital management had notified security agencies and were awaiting the outcome of their investigation.
Two members of a local vigilance group were also killed in a collision with a heavy-duty vehicle on the Benin-Lagos Expressway, near the University of Benin’s Ugbowo main campus.
According to eyewitnesses, a fatal collision occurred around midday when a truck crashed into a motorcycle carrying two vigilante members, resulting in fatal head injuries. The bodies were later taken to a morgue in Benin.
